When you call one of the numerous companies that are staffed by salespeople on the front end, (you can find them on our List of 150 tax resolution companies), you are essentially putting yourself in a position of paying a premium fee, $3000 to $10000, for what may very well be a lie. If a salesperson, says you are a slam dunk to make a settlement, then quotes a very high fee -- that is not a good sign.
Why not pay a reasonable fee, in our case - usually $1050 to $1750, to have your case done honestly, be represented by a tax professional and....if your case actually turns into an Offer in Compromise or settlement case, consider it to be a BONUS on top of a decent fee!
