October 5, 2015 by Jay Freeborne

It's October 5th. If you are NOT current on your 2015 taxes...it's probably time to start thinking about 2016. If you are someone who might qualify for an Offer in Compromise, time to roll these 2015 taxes into your settlement and shift your focus to staying current in 2016. Forget 2015 - you can't catch up.

You also might require your tax professional to kick the can down the road with IRS collections to 2016 as well - to prevent any collection activity against you. But if you are receiving just the LT11, CP504 letters from the IRS collection branch, your timing could be perfect...

You file your Offer in Compromise at the end of December. By the time it's accepted in the Spring, you will be current on 2016 taxes. At least - this is how it should work in theory :)
