The Boiler Room Called “Taxmasters”

Got off the phone with a local Seattle person. His case is as simple as it comes. He hasn't filed tax returns for two, maybe three years. He probably won't owe taxes -- he should get refunds as he was a wage earner.

Easy case to solve: 1. Research his record with the IRS -- figure out what returns need to be done and get the documents to do the returns; 2. Do the three returns (or two).

This guy must watch Fox News, as he called Taxmasters in Houston, Texas. Their price for doing this utterly simple job? $3000.00 dollars. My goodness. What a joke!

Washington Tax Service's fee? $575.00

It will be interesting to see when the Attorney General of Texas will get involved with Taxmasters or the IRS -- Office of Professional Responsibility. Read this press release: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/taxmasters-creates-new-jobs-in-2009-despite-challenging-economy-78762232.html They are obviously proud that their company is growing so fast. Recruiting people to steal? Hmm...doesn't seem to be the economic growth were looking for. Should Glenn Beck take responsibility for these guys? Who knows.
